FDP on "Advanced IC Engines" Organized by Dept of Mechnanical Engg, on 08 - 12 Dec 2014
The DCE-FDP was inaugurated on 08th December 2014, by Dr. V. Ganesan, Professor-Emeritus, IITM, Chennai. The welcome speech was given by Dr. A.R. Pradeep Kumar, HoD/Mech., presidential address by Dr. S. Sivasubramanian, Principal, felicitation by Dr. K. Annamalai, Associate Professor, MIT and inaugural address by Dr. V. Ganesan, Professor-Emeritus, IITM.

The first session was carried out by Dr. V. Ganesan, on the topic “From Horse Power to Horsepower”. It was preceded by a presentation of Dr. K. Annamalai, Associate Professor, MIT, on the topic “Combustion in Spark Ignition Engines”. In the afternoon session a quiz programme was organized by Dr. N.R. Rajasekaran, Associate Professor – FDP coordinator.

On 9th December 2014, the session was handled by Mr. Mariappa, Assistant Professor, MIT, on the topic “Combustion phenomena in Compression Ignition (CI) Engines”. In the afternoon session a technical quiz programme was conducted by Dr. N.R. Rajasekaran, Associate Professor – FDP coordinator. The participation of staff members was overwhelming.

On 10th December 2014, the session was handled by Dr. M. Senthilkumar, Associate Professor, MIT on the topic “Alternative fuels – liquid fuels”. He also distributed softcopy of the handouts of the power point presentation. In the afternoon an industrial visit had been arranged to Hyudai Motors, Irunkattukottai. The visit was organized by Mr. R. Rengaswamy, Associate Professor, Industry – Institute Interaction cell coordinator. The visit provided an insight into the industrial automation.

On 11th December 2014, the session was handled by Dr. S. Jayaraj, Associate Professor, on the topic “Hybrid vehicles”.

On 12th December 2014, the session was handled by Dr. M. Senthil kumar, Associate Professor, on the topic “Emission and Pollution control”. In the afternoon session the feedback was taken from the faculty members, non-teaching staff members.

The overall feedback from the faculty members was to organize such sessions with more quiz programmes and industrial visits for the faculty members, which would enable the faculty to train the students to be more employable.
